Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
A high-ranking official commented the vandalism rendered him without words and required to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in 2020.
